Why We Rebuilt the UI
The old interface worked, but we knew it could be better. Developers told us they wanted faster navigation between organizations and services. They wanted clearer visual hierarchy. They wanted an interface that felt modern and aligned with current design standards.
We listened. We redesigned everything from the ground up.
The Technology: Spartan UI
We migrated from Angular Material to Spartan UI, a modern component library that brings shadcn/ui's design philosophy to Angular applications.
Why Spartan UI? It provides accessible, customizable components that feel native to modern web applications. The components are lightweight, performant, and designed with developer experience in mind. Most importantly, Spartan UI gives us the flexibility to create exactly the interface our users need without fighting against opinionated framework decisions.
The migration wasn't just about swapping components. We rethought every interaction, every layout, every visual element to create an interface that feels cohesive and intentional.
Industry Best Practices, Implemented
Modern web applications follow patterns that users understand intuitively. We've implemented these patterns throughout the new UI.
Persistent Sidenav Navigation
The most significant change is our new persistent sidenav. Organizations and services are always visible in the left sidebar, making navigation instant and intuitive.
No more hunting through menus. Your organizations are right there. Your services are one click away. The context is always clear.
The sidenav collapses gracefully on smaller screens and provides quick access to everything you need. Organization switching is seamless. Service selection is immediate. You spend less time navigating and more time building.
Clear Visual Hierarchy
Every screen follows consistent design patterns. Primary actions are obvious. Secondary options are accessible but don't clutter the interface. Information density is balanced - you see what you need without being overwhelmed.
Cards, spacing, typography, and color work together to guide your attention. Important information stands out. Related actions are grouped logically. The interface gets out of your way and lets you work.
Consistent Component Patterns
Similar actions use similar components across the entire application. Form patterns are consistent. Button hierarchies are predictable. Feedback messages appear in expected locations.
This consistency reduces cognitive load. You learn the interface once and apply that knowledge everywhere. No surprises, no inconsistencies, no confusion.

Modern Service Cards
Service cards now show all essential information at a glance. Status indicators are clear and color-coded. Quick actions are accessible directly from the card. Resource usage and metrics are visible without drilling into details.
Streamlined Service Creation
Creating new services is faster and clearer. The wizard guides you through each step with contextual help. Configuration options are organized logically. You can review everything before provisioning.
Enhanced Plugin Management
Plugin configuration is more intuitive. Available plugins are showcased with clear descriptions and pricing. Enabling plugins shows exactly what you're getting and what it costs.
Improved Status Monitoring
The status page provides real-time visibility into your service health. Metrics are displayed clearly with historical trends. Issues are highlighted prominently. Performance data helps you understand your application's behavior.
Better Webhook Configuration
Webhook plugin setup is now visual and intuitive. Configure triggers with a clear interface. Test webhooks directly from the UI. View webhook history and retry failed requests with one click.
The UX Philosophy
